 and even the nightingale
 pauses to look up.

  1. Wow, simply beautiful. I can see the brightness of the stars without a moon, and feel the quiet as everything looks up.

  5. I'm trying to decide if it is a star filled night without the moon or a moonless and starless night. Lovely, either way!

    1. Thanks for your comments. Perhaps I need another word to clarify the moment I was trying to capture. I live near a big city and rarely get to see themilky way in all its glory, in the desert with no moon..I am learning so much at Haiku Heights!! Thanks again!

  6. WOW! Such a nice haiku ... almost in the spirit of the ancient classical haiku masters such as Basho and Buson. Very wel written and in balance ... in some way traditional ... chapeau!

  7. I like to imagine that nightingale pausing to look up. Its eyes and tail must coordinate beautifully.
