Wild Music

At dusk
A lone bird trills
 an overture

two crickets
on scratchy violins
begin a duet

dressed up in pink
a rose spills perfume
on the score

dark clouds
promise
sky music

urgent wind whips
blackened treetops
to a fugue

sparklers fly
clapping applause
in the distance

raindrops pound
chasing squirrels off the roof
dueling drummers

wind surrenders
giving the rustling leaves
back to the trees

the moonrise
weaves
 infinite silence

  1. Lovely images of nature. I like especially:

    dark clouds
    promise
    sky music

(You might want to use a larger font! I had to struggle to read the very small font.)

  4. Barbara,

What a delightful and moving scene of nature you have cleverly painted with your words. I imagined being there for myself!!!

  5. It's much fun to play around with nature. A healthy pre-occupation! You've shown it brilliantly here, Barbara!

  7. Barbara! So, so, so lovely. Breathing soothing poetic music through my soul--that's how to solve this pre-election stress! Thank you :-)

    1. Funny you should say that! Look at my post for Monday! It's not poetry but it is about stress and the current election propaganda.
