A Special Birthday

My mother turns 91 years old this week.  She used to love gardening.  The day lilies pictured below grow in my garden.  They came from a clump of day lilies that my father bought for my mother on her birthday in the early 70's.  They have been divided and moved many times in the past 40 or so years. Now they grow in many gardens near and far.

My father died in 1974. For me, these lovely flowers symbolize their love for one another and how that love grew, divided and multiplied over the next four decades.

Thought for today : Happy 91st birthday to my mother!

  2. Happy Birthday to your mother!! Obviously she passed on her garden gloves and green thumb to you :-) Isn't it wonderful to share plants with people we love? My garden is full of shared plants from friends and I smile every time I look at them.

  3. I'm late, but a very happy birthday to your mother. My great Aunt loved daylilies and they have always reminded me of her. A very touching post, Barbara. xo
