Octoberfest!

Did I ever mention that October is the best month of the year?

Where I live, October is usually day after day of perfect weather with birds of every description and color coming and going. There is nothing to complain about where October is concerned! (Well, maybe one thing, but I'll get to that later.)

With  the bluest  of blue skies and  a slow dance of color marching across the woods, October is the most photogenic month!

I am so inspired at this time of year... to walk in the woods or at the beach....to take a gazillion photos...... and to write poetry.

October you could be a heartbreaker but I won't let you do that to me!  Where the coming cold weather is concerned, I have adopted Scarlett O'Hara's philosophy......'I'll think about it tomorrow!'  Nothing can spoil this for me.

(The first haiga is for my mother, who is forgetting everything.)

  1. October is the Fall season at it's best. The beauty in the natural world waits for the lens of the camera, and the lens of the heart, to capture it all in photograph, in poetry, and in verse. I love October.

  2. I am with you all the way! I love October; it is a truly bountiful month here. Even better - it can still be warm. This October (all three days of it so far) has been one of the better ones. Blue skies; bountiful hedgerows; and warm weather with that hint of a chill in the breeze. This is a lovely post, Barbara. The concept of shy ferns dressing up made me smile.

  4. Barbara--I LOVE these Haigas--especially the one with the ferns :-) I'm so sorry to hear about your mom--my mom is having the same problem and about 10 years ago my Mother-in-law succumbed to Alzheimers--she does not remember anything--except the words to songs and how to dance, not such bad memories
